Bloomsbury Publishing, along with The Nehru Centre, celebrated the landmark publication of CRICKET WORLD CUP: THE INDIAN CHALLENGE - a history of the World Cup written by Ashis Ray, with a foreword by the legendary Sunil Gavaskar.

Ashis Ray is today the senior-most active Indian broadcaster and writer on cricket. He was the only Asian ball-by-ball commentator on the BBC's coverage of the epic 1983 World Cup. He also analyses cricket on SKY SPORTS; and has written on the game for every major British and Indian newspaper. Several eminent guests, including Lord Swaraj Paul and several officers from the High Commission attended the event. High Commissioner H.E. Mr. Ranjan Mathai launched the book and said a few words. Later in the evening, Ashis Ray was in conversation with James Astill of The Economist who is the author of the "Great Indian Tamasha" - a book on IPL Cricket and various other Indian phenomena. The audience enjoyed the lively, informative & entertaining interaction particularly with the Cricket World Cup matches going on.
