Press Release on Kavi Sammelans in the UK

As in the past, Virat Kavi Sammelans were held all over UK. Five renowned poets – Mr. Shree Krishan Tiwari from Varanasi, Mr. Sheen Kaaf Nizam from Jodhpur, Mr. Aash Karan Atal from Mumbai, Shri Keshri Nath Tripathi from Allahabad and Mrs. Asha Sharma from Bhopal – participated in the Virat Kavi Sammelans held from August 18 to September 2, 2012. In total 12 recitals were rendered in cities like Belfast, Bolton, Liverpool, Wolverhampton, York, Birmingham, Nottingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Leicester, Slough and London.

On 19th August, poets participated in Independence Day celebrations in London and rendered a special recital in front of a huge crowd gathered to participate in the Independence Day celebrations. The poets received accolades from poetry lovers belonging to cross-sections of Indian diaspora coming from all over UK. Poets were accorded honours at the last recital held at the Nehru Centre on 2nd September 2012.

The Kavi Sammelans provided a good opportunity for the budding young poets from UK to showcase their talent in front of experienced and renowned poets coming from the motherland of their ancestors. They felt attached to a great culture by receiving an appreciation from senior and renowned poets.

On the whole, people enjoyed the Kavi Sammelans. It was a good occasion for the Indian diaspora to get connected to their roots and refresh the memories of their motherland.
