Welcome to the Consular Services of the High Commission of India, London

1.High Commission of India, London has introduced online appointment system for submission of applications for consular services. As such, applicants are advised to approach the High Commission for consular services ONLY with prior appointment. The High Commission will NOT accept consular services applications from applicants who approach the High Commission without prior online appointment.

4. Please note that for all the above-mentioned consular services rendered at the High Commission, applicants are required to APPLY IN PERSON ONLY. Applications for consular services (as mentioned at Serial No. 3 above) can be submitted at the consular services counter of the High Commission, which is open from 0930 hours to 1300 hours on all working days. Applicants have the option to either collect the processed and original supporting documents in person or they may enclose a pre-paid (Recorded Delivery/ Special Delivery) self-addressed good quality envelope so that the processed documents can be delivered to the applicants at the UK address provided by them. The time for collection of documents etc. in person [where an applicant has not enclosed a pre-paid (Recorded Delivery/ Special Delivery) self-addressed envelope for delivery of the processed and original supporting documents at the UK address of the applicant] is from 1630 hours to 1730 hours on all working days. Applicants for consular services are required to submit their passports and all other supporting documents in original along with a self-attested photocopy set of passport pages containing personal particulars of the applicant and supporting documents. All original documents are returned to the applicant (s) the same day after scrutiny at the Consular Section.

The forms can also be obtained free of cost from the consular services counter of the High Commission on arrival for services or can be obtained through post by enclosing a self-addressed pre-paid envelope.

Please Note:

  • Under Indian law, Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), who have acquired foreign citizenship, are required to surrender their last held Indian passports to the nearest Indian Mission/Post immediately after acquisition of foreign citizenship. In view of this provision, PIO, intending to apply for Consular Services should surrender their last held Indian passports, obtain Surrender Certificate/Deemed Surrender Certificate/Renunciation Declaration (as applicable in individual cases in accordance with relevant rules on the subject) and then apply for Consular Services by submitting a copy of the Surrender Certificate/Deemed Surrender Certificate/Renunciation Declaration so obtained and other prescribed documents for the required service. In cases where the PIO applicants for Consular Services have already acquired Indian Visa after acquisition of foreign citizenship or if they have obtained OCI/PIO Card after acquisition of foreign citizenship, they need to submit copy of their Indian Visa page or copy of their OCI/PIO Card (as the case may be) while applying for Consular Services. In short, PIO applying for Consular Services are required to submit EITHER copy of their Surrender Certificate/Deemed Surrender Certificate/Renunciation Declaration OR copy of their Indian Visa page OR copy of their OCI/PIO Card along with their application for Consular Services.
  • The High Commission of India reserves the right to reject attestation of documents, the contents of which are objectionable or contrary to the Rules.
  • Please note that the applicable Consular Fee is collected for each signature and stamp of the Consular Officer.
