India Budget Briefing at India House

The High Commission of India hosted ‘India Budget Briefing : Analysis and Emerging Opportunities’ at India House on February 6, 2017 to discuss highlights of the recently presented budget in India and its long term impact on Indian economy as well as trade and commerce. High Commissioner Mr. Y. K. Sinha addressed the gathering where he hailed the budget as favouring the underprivileged in the society. He described the increased expenditure in infrastructure and digital economy as key features of the budget that will provide further impetus to the country on its path of sustained growth. The eminent panel members discussed the different aspects of the budget, the great economic shift taking place in India following major reforms such as demonetisation, GST and movement towards digitisation. Mr. Dinesh K Patnaik, Deputy High Commissioner led and moderated the discussion. Panellists included members from Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), and others. The ensuing Q&A session provided a productive interaction on a range of issues related to the budget. The event was attended by more than 150 senior level representatives of UK Corporate houses and Indian businesses in the UK.
