Captain Radhika Menon bags 2016 IMO Award for Exceptional Bravery at Sea

The High Commission of India is proud to share that the 2016 IMO Award for Exceptional Bravery at Sea is won by Captain Radhika Menon, Master of the M/T Sampurna Swarajya, for her display of great determination and courage in rescuing seven fishermen from a sinking boat.

In addition, Mr B.M. Das from the Indian Coast Guard won Certificate of Commendation for rescuing all 14 crew of a cargo ship.

The Award ceremony was held at the International Maritime Organisation headquarters on 21st November 2016 where the awards were presented by IMO Secretary General Mr Kitack Lim. Acting High Commissioner Mr Dinesh Patnaik also attended the event and congratulated the recipients for their exceptional acts of bravery.
